Counting down to autumn

I'm always anxious for my favorite season to arrive.
I love everything about autumn.
The colors of nature . . .

The home decor . . .
in the dining room.
on the mantel . . .
at the pumpkin patch . . .
college football
my October birthday . . .
Halloween
Thanksgiving

Now, it's time for me to get my boxes of decorations out of the attic.
Ready, set, decorate!!!!

Girl Time

Last Friday Emma & I spent the day together.
 We call it girl time.
I taught her how to play checkers.  She won the first game.  She kept saying, "This is fun!"
We played 4 games.  Our final tally wins were 2 for Emma & 2 for Nana.

We watched a Hallmark movie, Nutcracker Christmas, while we ate lunch.
Emma is very interested in ballet.

We made chocolate chip cookies.
She did most of the scooping & plopping.
You giggle a lot when you bake cookies!
When can we eat some dough?
When Papaw got home from work he treated us to dinner at Braum's.
Yum, that shake is so delicious!

It was a fun day!
This Friday is Ethan's turn.

Hello August

75 & rain showers, not a bad start for a usually hot month!
School starts today in our state's capital, Oklahoma City.
I think that's too early.  Just my opinion.

Special Weekend

Our fun weekend began Friday evening when our grands stayed with us while their Mommy & Daddy went out to celebrate their 12th anniversary.  They picked up Everly later & Emma & Ethan spent the night.

Saturday we all went to my hometown to celebrate my Aunt Norma & Uncle Earl's 65th anniversary.
Uncle Earl is my mother's brother. He is the only remaining sibling of the 3.
Reaching this milestone is rather rare & something to treasure.
Great family photo with my cousins, Kelly, Ross, Kim & Tony.
My cousin, Leslie & her husband Kyle came all the way from Texas. Leslie is the daughter of my Mother's sister, Dorothy.  So good to see them.  It has been many years since we've seen each other.
The day would have been perfect  if Leslie's sisters, Nancy & Becky, and my sisters, Mary & Susan had been there.
These cookies were so cute.
My hometown.
The kiddos loved the cookies.
Ethan's acting a little shy, but the girls are also ready to pose for a picture.

Purging Feels So Good

Purging feels so good, but I haven't been able to do MAJOR purging because of my Rheumatoid Arthritis.  Earlier this month my sister, Mary came for a 4 day visit.  She is a pro at  purging & organizing.
Thursday morning the purging project began in our office/library/craft room.
When I woke up I heard Mary stirring around.  She had already moved everything out of the closet.
We worked all day & got rid of a bunch of stuff/junk.  I think we made 3 trips to Goodwill.
I even said goodbye to this cute little lamp that I used in my classroom for years.  I hope whoever finds it at Goodwill will enjoy it as much as I did.
Purging for me is therapeutic.
It feels great to be organized.
We found this beautiful lamp at Home Goods.
We also found these curtains.

More purging happened on Friday & Saturday.
Several more trips to Goodwill.
Now, all the closets upstairs are organized.  Sunday afternoon Bob & I took 5 more bags to Goodwill.
Purging feels so good!.
Thank you Mary for all your hard work.  Love you!

Our motto,
"Git er done!"

Sunshine on a Cloudy Day

It's overcast & gloomy today.
But, I've got sunshine in the dining room.
I played with my daisy dishes & some pretty table linens.
The chandelier gives off a bright glow
as well as the rose bowl faux candles.
Thanks so much for visiting!

Hello, I'm Back

Hello,I'm back.
It has been 15 months since I've made a blog post.
I know, shameful.
Where have I been?
Just living life.
Enjoying my family.
I've been sharing on Facebook
& Instagram.

I got inspired to come back to blogging when I received a new fall magazine in the mail.  I don't know who sent it, but I sure appreciate the thought.
The Cottage Journal for autumn is filled with lots & lots of beautiful decorating ideas.
I'm already dreaming of fall, my favorite season.
In the meantime I'll continue enjoying summer.
Love this Holly Hobby plate.
"It's a star spangled day when you share it with a friend!"
I'm back to blogging!
Thank you for stopping by!
