I'm thankful for the joyous season that is coming!
I do love my Santa collection . . .
This kneeling Santa always reminds me of the reason for the season . . .

Thank you to all of you who visited during the "30 Days of Thanksgiving".
Now on to the 'Most Wonderful Time of the Year'!

Afternoon Naps & Trisha's Recipes

Day 29 of Thanksgiving . . .
I'm thankful for retirement . . .
One of the things I like about being retired is I can stay up as late as I want, or go to bed early.  If I want, I can take an afternoon nap any time I choose.  A luxury for sure!  I love being retired!

I have been enjoying watching Trisha Yearwood's Food Network show.
I made two of her recipes for Thanksgiving dinner.

The dishes were delicious!  I will be making them again for other occasions.

The Night Sky

Day 28 of Thanksgiving . . .
I am thankful for the beauty of the moon & stars in the night sky.
I woke up around 4:30 this morning.  I noticed a friend had posted a picture of the full moon on Facebook.
Then, I noticed moon light streaming in the window in our entry.
I snapped a few pictures.  My little camera couldn't capture what my eyes were seeing.
Full moon over T-Town . . .
This song came to mind . . .
I hope you'll take a few minute to listen.
It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it!

Music

Day 27 of Thanksgiving . . .
I'm thankful for music!
Piano lessons, a mother with a beautiful voice, church music, the radio, choir in jr. high, high school & college, performing in musicals & opera, singing solos in church, teaching music.
Music is so important to me.

Day 26 Of Thanksgiving

I am thankful for technology.
I enjoy the technology of my laptop computer & IPhone.
My niece has been sending me the sweetest pictures of her girls to my phone via photo stream.
Thanks for all the great pictures, April!
I'm so tempted to jump in the car & drive to Houston.

I'm in transition with my holiday decorating.
All the fall decorations are packed up & ready to go back to the attic.
I hated to see the pumpkins leave.
Now it's time to start decorating for Christmas.
My trees are up & waiting to be decorated.
This is our family room tree from last year.
The piano room tree 2011.
I'm starting to get inspired seeing these pictures.
Stand by for Christmas Bling 2012.
My plan is to have everything finished in one week.
Where are you with you Christmas decorating?

Weekly Words To Live By #125

Day 25 of Thanksgiving . . .
I am thankful for God's amazing grace.

Without His grace I would be nothing.

But by God's grace I am what I am,
and his grace shown to me was not wasted.
Instead, I worked harder than all the others-not I, of course,
but God's grace that was with me.
1 Corinthians 15:10

Wishing you a restful Sunday . . .

Thankful I Don't Shop On Black Friday

Day 24 of Thanksgiving . . .
I'm thankful I don't shop on Black Friday or Grey Thursday.
I must lack an adventurous spirit or maybe I'm just too lazy to shop on Black Friday.
The #1 reason I don't shop on Black Friday is because I don't want to be trampled.  Check out what happened at the big mall just north of my house.
This is pretty crazy!
No bra, pantie, or hoodie would be worth it!
Just sayin'!
If you're a Black Friday shopper I admire your fortitude, you are my hero!

Thankful For Dilly Bread

Hubby & I enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner at Cracker Barrel yesterday.  This is the first time that we ate Thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant.  The food was good & I met 2 nice ladies on the porch while we rocked & waited for our names to be called. Interesting conversation.
Last night I started making food for our "Day After Thanksgiving Dinner" with the kids today.

Day 23 of Thanksgiving . . .
I am thankful for Dilly Bread.
I blogged about this bread before, but it's worth repeating.
My Mother made this for Thanksgiving & Christmas.
It's a tradition, I'm so thankful she passed the recipe on to me.
She always bake it in a round Pyrex.  Sometimes I bake it in a loaf pan, but I like it best in my antique Pyrex bowl because it reminds me of Mother..

Dilly Bread
1 package yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 cup cottage cheese (heated to lukewarm, I do this in the microwave)
2 T. sugar
1 T. instant minced onion
3 T. butter
2 tsp. dill seed
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. soda
1 egg
2 1/4 cup sifted flour
If you don't want to take the time to knead the dough you can make it in your bread machine. Very simple.
Soften yeast in water. Combine in mixing bowl cottage cheese, sugar, onion, butter, dill seed, salt, soda, beaten egg and softened yeast. Add flour to form a stiff dough, beating well after each addition. Cover and let rise in warm place until light and doubles in size, 50 to 60 minutes. Knead down dough and turn into well greased 2 1/2 qt. casserole. Let rise in warm place until light, 40 minutes or so. Bake in 350 degree oven for 25 to 25 minutes until brown (crust will be dark brown). Brush with butter.
The combination of dill & cottage cheese really make this delicious.

Enjoy your weekend!

Thankful For Thanksgiving Memories

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Day 22 of Thanksgiving . . .
thanksgiving

I'm so thankful for another Thanksgiving Day!
I love all the tradition that comes with this day.
Memories of Thanksgiving celebrations from the past always come to mind on this day.
I have fond memories of my Mother & Grandmas in the kitchen putting together a feast big enough for 5 families.  They taught me so much about setting a table fit for a king & serving a delicious meal.

I remember the first time I saw the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in color. I was in high school.  Grandpa & Grandma Berger had just bought a color TV.  Amazing!

Day 20 Of Thanksgiving

On this 20th day of Thanksgiving I am thankful for my alma mater, OSU.
I'm loyal & true to OSU.
I spent many hours in this library.
So thankful for my degree in education from OSU.

properly into the world,
and ten to one but she has the means of settling well,
without further expense to anybody. ”

Thankful For Bobby

Day 19 of Thanksgiving . . .
I am thankful for our son, Bobby.
He has been a joy in our life for 31 years.

"Sons are a heritage from the Lord,
 children a reward from Him."
