How Lovely . . .

I don't regret waking up super early
to watch the royal wedding.
I was a witness to history.
I love history whether it is
from the past or the present.
Today, I was able to see some happy history.
A little break from all the sad, scary,
and heartbreaking news we see every day.

The dress was elegant,stylish,
and vintage traditional.

I have to admit I was a little nervous
about the happy couple riding
in the open carriage.
With all those people watching I was afraid
something would go wrong.

The kiss.
I love how the flower girl is watching.

After the balcony appearance I took a nap.
Now back to reality.
It is time to clean some toilets.

Wedding Fever Continues . . .

 I love weddings.
The dress, ceremony, reception are elements
that make each wedding special.
Whether fancy or simple each wedding is unique.

Our simple wedding on December 27, 1975.

Now for some famous wedding photos.

Royal Wedding Anticipation . . .

Yes, it's true . . .
I have 'Royal Wedding' fever!
I plan on watching all the festivities live
 early Friday morning.
I remember watching Charles & Diana's
wedding 30 years ago while I
was feeding my newborn son.

Here's something fun to do before the big event.
I saw this on Facebook.
In honor of the big wedding on Friday, use your royal wedding guest name. Start with either Lord or Lady. Your first name is one of your grandparents' names. Your surname is the name of your first pet, double-barreled with the name of the street you grew up on.

My royal name is . . .
Lady Ruby Snoopy Cherry

Hope you'll leave a comment revealing your royal name
and if you have plans for watching William & Kate
tie the knot.

Random Monday Memories #13 . . .

Today's post isn't about memories from the past,
but making new memories.

Easter was a stormy, cool, and wet day.
The lightning & thunder started before daylight
and continued all day & night!

We started a new Easter tradition.
I baked a bunny cake.
My grandma Ruby liked to make rabbit cakes for Easter.
I think she would be pleased that I'm carrying on her tradition.
It turned out okay and I learned a lot from this first attempt.
I couldn't find skinny black licorice so I used mini chocolate chips
for the whiskers.

Ethan liked the cake, but didn't like getting the icing on his hands.
It was so funny!

Weekly Words To Live By #47 . . .

~ Happy Easter ~

Because He Lives

God sent His son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal, and forgive.
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

April Showers Bring May Flowers . . .

Ah-h-h-h, finally some rain!
I don't even mind that it's too wet to plant in our flowerbeds this weekend!
In a few weeks we will be seeing the beautiful wildflowers
that bloom on Oklahoma roadsides.

I'm so looking forward to seeing May flowers!

The Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

I've always enjoyed reading blogs that post
The Simple Woman's Day Book.
I'm doing my first SWDB today.

Outside my window . . .
the sun is trying to break through the clouds.

I am thinking . . .
about the 168 lives that were lost on this day 16 years ago in Oklahoma City at the Murrah Building.

I am thankful . . .
for so many blessings in my life.

From the kitchen . . .
I'm trying to think of something good to whip up for dinner.

I am wearing . . .
an orange top, brown yoga pants and cozy house shoes.

I am creating . . .
absolutely nothing, I think my creativity and craftiness has taken a vacation!

I am going . . .
to do a few chores . . . laundry and bathroom cleaning.

I am hoping . . .
for rain today and no severe weather!

I am hearing . . .
the wind whistling through the kitchen window.

Around the house . . .
I need to finish decorating for Easter.  Shame on me for being a slacker decorator!

A few plans for the rest of the week . . .
plan a menu for Easter dinner, grocery shopping, sorting & organizing my closet.

Have a great day everyone!

Weekly Words To Live By #46 . . .

His eye is on the sparrow . . .

What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.  And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.  So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.

Matthew 10:29-31

Greening Up . . .

After a long winter I love seeing green finally
arrive in the landscape!

The trees behind our house are almost fully leafed out
and new ferns are hung on the deck.

The front of the house is looking very green!

By the way, I finally fixed my spacing problem by
going to the help center on dashboard and
followed directions.
I'm smiling!

Spacing Problems . . .

I've been having trouble for a couple of weeks
with spacing when I'm making new posts.
I'm only single spacing and it always
shows up as double spacing when I post.
FRUSTRATING!
Anyone else having the same problem?  Any advice?
*Update*
The spacing problem is resolved so I edited this post with the proper spacing.

Favorite Cupboard Party . . .

Thanks so much for coming by for the party today!
A big thank you to Shelia for hosting the
Heart of the Home Party!
Be sure to visit her @
so you can check out all the party fun!

I'm featuring my two kitchen cupboards for today's party.
I refinished this old cupboard way back in the 70s.
It had two coats of paint, red & white.
It makes great storage for my cookbooks.

I got this old cabinet from my sister before
she moved from Oklahoma to Texas back in the early 80s.
I like to decorate it for the seasons.
In this picture you can see it's decorated for Christmas.

Roosters are featured here.

Thanks again for stopping by, I look forward to seeing your favorite cupboard!

To Do List . . .

Do you make lists of things to do?
I haven't been doing this very much since
I retired from teaching, but I'm thinking it's time to start.
Time to do a little 'deep' spring cleaning.
This list will no doubt be very long.

My Mother was a list maker.
She put her list(s) on her fridge.
Time for me to carry on a family tradition starting today!

Finally Home . . .

Emma finally got to go home today!
She will be wearing a monitor for a while.

Before they headed home they stopped by to pick up Ethan.
I was so thrilled to finally hold her in my arms!
Her weight is now 7 lbs. 5 oz.
She is so petite & has the longest fingers.
I can see those pretty fingers playing the piano someday.
